About This Outlook
Driven by our founding mission to protect mariners' lives and help in times of crisis, Weathernews is providing this general weather trend as a reference for the public and stakeholders monitoring the Strait of Hormuz and the Middle East.
For a limited time, Weathernews is publicly disclosing port forecasts for the Middle East via our platform SeaNavigator Free. We monitor highly congested ports and areas facing adverse weather, updating four times daily with 48-hour, 5-day, and 7-day outlooks.
Weathernews Maritime Forecaster comment:
From Tuesday, April 14th through Wednesday, April 15th, strengthening northwesterly winds are expected in the Persian Gulf. A high-pressure system centered near Turkey will gradually intensify, while a low-pressure system is located over northern India and Pakistan, resulting in an increased pressure gradient over the Persian Gulf.
From the afternoon of the 14th through late night on the 15th, northwesterly winds of 20–30 knots (10–15 m/s) are expected, with some areas over the sea potentially exceeding 30 knots. In the southern Persian Gulf, increasing wave heights should also be noted, with waves in the central Gulf possibly reaching 3–4 meters.
From Thursday, April 16th through the latter part of the week, the region will be covered by high pressure, and the risk of significant wind strengthening or wave development is expected to remain low.
