Weathernews Maritime Forecaster comment:
This Week (May 12th–13th): Dust Storm Risk in the Persian Gulf
This week, caution is advised for dust storms in the Persian Gulf. From the evening of the 12th through the morning of the 13th (local time), a low-pressure system will track from near Iraq into the northern Persian Gulf. In response, winds over the northern Persian Gulf are expected to shift from southerly to northwesterly, reaching around 20 kt (10 m/s), with dust-laden conditions forecast.
In the southern Persian Gulf and near the Strait of Hormuz, no significant wind strengthening is currently expected this week. However, on the 13th, southerly winds of 10–20 kt (5–10 m/s) may still trigger dust storm activity in these areas. Please continue to monitor the latest forecasts.
