About This Outlook
As part of our ongoing commitment to protect mariners' lives and help in times of crisis, Weathernews previously provided daily and weekly port weather highlights for the Strait of Hormuz and the Middle East. With the change of seasons and the onset of the Southwest Monsoon, we are now shifting our focus to port forecast snapshots across the Indian Ocean and South Asia — offering this as a reference for the public and stakeholders monitoring monsoon progression and adverse sea conditions in the region.
Reports are updated four times daily and include 48-hour, 5-day and 7-day outlooks for your use.
Weathernews Maritime Forecaster comment:
The Southwest Monsoon season has begun in the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal. During the first half of this week, southwesterly winds of 20 to 25 knots will persist, and wave heights are expected to exceed 3 meters in some areas off the coast of Oman. From the latter half of the week through the weekend, the southwesterly winds are expected to gradually strengthen. There is a risk that average wind speeds will reach 25 to 30 knots and significant wave heights will reach 3.5 to 4.0 meters, not only in the Arabian Sea but also in the Bay of Bengal. Caution is advised for relatively small vessels and ships carrying sensitive cargo.
