About This Outlook

As part of our ongoing commitment to protect mariners' lives and help in times of crisis, Weathernews previously provided daily and weekly port weather highlights for the Strait of Hormuz and the Middle East. With the change of seasons and the onset of the Southwest Monsoon, we are now shifting our focus to port forecast snapshots across the Indian Ocean and South Asia — offering this as a reference for the public and stakeholders monitoring monsoon progression and adverse sea conditions in the region.

Reports are updated four times daily and include 48-hour, 5-day and 7-day outlooks for your use.

Weathernews Maritime Forecaster comment:

The southwest monsoon continues to dominate the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal this week. Southwesterly winds of 15-20 knots are blowing over a wide area, resulting in significant wave heights of 2-3 meters.

The monsoon is expected to strengthen slightly from the middle of the week (the 17th onwards). Off the coasts of Somalia and Oman, winds may reach 25-30 knots, with a risk of rough seas and wave heights exceeding 4 meters.
