About This Outlook

As part of our ongoing commitment to protect mariners' lives and help in times of crisis, Weathernews previously provided daily and weekly port weather highlights for the Strait of Hormuz and the Middle East. With the change of seasons and the onset of the Southwest Monsoon, we are now shifting our focus to port forecast snapshots across the Indian Ocean and South Asia — offering this as a reference for the public and stakeholders monitoring monsoon progression and adverse sea conditions in the region.

Reports are updated four times daily and include 48-hour, 5-day and 7-day outlooks for your use.

Weathernews Maritime Forecaster comment:

The southwest monsoon continues to dominate the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal this week. Wind speeds are generally 20–25 kt along the eastern Indian coast of the Arabian Sea and 15–20 kt in the Bay of Bengal. In both areas, southwesterly winds are expected to strengthen further toward the latter half of the week, starting on the 26th. In particular, strong winds exceeding 30 kt are anticipated in some areas near Socotra Island in the western Arabian Sea and off the coast of Oman. Areas with significant wave heights exceeding 4 m are expected to gradually expand across the Arabian Sea, with a risk of rough seas and wave heights exceeding 5 m off the coast of Oman toward the end of the week. In the Bay of Bengal, areas with wave heights exceeding 3 m are also expected to spread by the weekend.
