About This Outlook
As part of our ongoing commitment to protect mariners' lives and help in times of crisis, Weathernews previously provided daily and weekly port weather highlights for the Strait of Hormuz and the Middle East. With the change of seasons and the onset of the Southwest Monsoon, we are now shifting our focus to port forecast snapshots across the Indian Ocean and South Asia — offering this as a reference for the public and stakeholders monitoring monsoon progression and adverse sea conditions in the region.
Reports are updated four times daily and include 48-hour, 5-day and 7-day outlooks for your use.
Weathernews Maritime Forecaster comment:
As the Southwest Monsoon season prevails, southwesterly to west-southwesterly winds are expected to persist across both the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal.
In the Arabian Sea, the first half of the week will see average wind speeds of 25 to 30 knots and significant wave heights of 4 to 5 meters off the southeast coast of Oman. Toward the latter half of the week, the area of strong winds exceeding 30 knots will expand eastward. Consequently, wave heights will build to 5 to 6 meters, with rough seas expected to spread from the central Arabian Sea to the waters off the west coast of India.
Wave heights are also trending upward in the Bay of Bengal, where an area of rough seas reaching 4 to 5 meters could develop by the weekend.
