About This Outlook
As part of our ongoing commitment to protect mariners' lives and help in times of crisis, Weathernews previously provided daily and weekly port weather highlights for the Strait of Hormuz and the Middle East. With the change of seasons and the onset of the Southwest Monsoon, we are now shifting our focus to port forecast snapshots across the Indian Ocean and South Asia — offering this as a reference for the public and stakeholders monitoring monsoon progression and adverse sea conditions in the region.
Reports are updated four times daily and include 48-hour, 5-day and 7-day outlooks for your use.
Weathernews Maritime Forecaster comment:
In the Arabian Sea, southwesterly monsoon winds are prevailing. An area with average wind speeds of 25–30 knots is expanding, and winds are expected to strengthen, exceeding 30 knots in some places from the 8th to the 9th. Significant wave heights will exceed 4.0 meters across a wide area from the central to northern Arabian Sea, and there is a risk they could reach 5.5–6.0 meters off the western coast of India on the 8th. Although there will be a temporary downward trend during the latter half of the week, wave heights are risk of rising again to 4.5–5.0 meters over the weekend, particularly in the northern region.
In the Bay of Bengal, winds will be around 20–25 knots, and although wave heights will be around 4.0 meters in the northern part, conditions are expected to gradually subside from the 7th to the 8th. Wave heights will likely remain around 2.0–3.0 meters during the latter half of the week.
