About This Outlook
As part of our ongoing commitment to protect mariners' lives and help in times of crisis, Weathernews previously provided daily and weekly port weather highlights for the Strait of Hormuz and the Middle East. With the change of seasons and the onset of the Southwest Monsoon, we are now shifting our focus to port forecast snapshots across the Indian Ocean and South Asia — offering this as a reference for the public and stakeholders monitoring monsoon progression and adverse sea conditions in the region.
Reports are updated four times daily and include 48-hour, 5-day and 7-day outlooks for your use.
Weathernews Maritime Forecaster comment:
The southwest monsoon will remain firmly established over both the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal this week, with little overall change in wind and wave conditions. In the Arabian Sea, winds are expected to remain generally at 20–25 kt, occasionally reaching 30 kt in the northern part of the basin. Significant wave heights of 3.5–4.5 m will prevail across much of the area, with localized seas briefly exceeding 5.0 m over the central and northern Arabian Sea. Although seas above 5.0 m are possible, they are not expected to become substantially higher or reach warning-level conditions, but continued caution is advised.
Conditions over the Bay of Bengal will remain somewhat less intense than those over the Arabian Sea, with winds of 15–20 kt and significant wave heights of around 2.0–3.0 m.
