As part of our ongoing commitment to protect mariners' lives and help in times of crisis, Weathernews previously provided daily and weekly port weather highlights for the Strait of Hormuz and the Middle East. With the change of seasons and the onset of the Southwest Monsoon, we are now shifting our focus to port forecast snapshots across the Indian Ocean and South Asia — offering this as a reference for the public and stakeholders monitoring monsoon progression and adverse sea conditions in the region.
Reports are updated four times daily and include 48-hour, 5-day and 7-day outlooks for your use.
Weathernews Maritime Forecaster comment:
Across the Arabian Sea this week, southwesterly to westerly monsoon winds will prevail throughout the region. During the first half of the week, winds are expected to remain at 20–25 kt, with significant wave heights of 2.5–3.5 m. From the 30th onward, during the latter half of the week, winds and seas are forecast to strengthen across the central and northern Arabian Sea, with winds increasing to 25–30 kt and significant wave heights expanding to around 4.0–5.0 m.
In the Bay of Bengal, a low-pressure system over northeastern India is generating southwesterly to southerly winds of 20–25 kt, with significant wave heights of 2.5–3.5 m. During the latter half of the week, the low-pressure system is expected to weaken and become less defined, allowing seas to gradually subside, with significant wave heights decreasing to around 2.0–3.0 m.
