Wave heights exceed the Yellow Caution threshold for most of August 12, easing back to safe levels by evening. Winds and gusts stay well within normal operating limits throughout the day.
Wind: Winds hold in the 11–13 kts range through the day, peaking at 13 kts at 08:00–09:00 LT and 13:00 LT before easing to 8 kts by 22:00–23:00 LT.
Gust: Gusts start at 16 kts at 05:00 LT, building to a peak of 20 kts at 08:00 LT, then gradually taper down to 13 kts by 20:00–23:00 LT.
Wave: Significant wave height exceeds the 2.5 m Yellow Caution threshold from 05:00 LT through 19:00 LT, peaking at 2.7 m early in the period before settling back to 2.5 m from 20:00 LT onward.
■ HAMBANTOTA, Sri Lanka
Wind and wave conditions build through the morning of August 12, with gusts and waves briefly reaching the Yellow Caution threshold before easing back through the evening. Wind speed remains within safe operating limits throughout.
Wind: Winds start at 13 kts at 05:00 LT, gradually building to a peak of 20 kts at 11:00 LT before easing and settling to 12 kts by 23:00 LT.
Gust: Gusts start at 19 kts at 05:00 LT, climbing to a peak of 31 kts at 11:00 LT, briefly exceeding the 30 kts Yellow Caution threshold, before tapering steadily to 18 kts by 23:00 LT.
Wave: Significant wave height exceeds the 2.5 m Yellow Caution threshold from 05:00 LT through 21:00 LT, peaking at 3.0 m at 11:00 LT before declining to 2.4 m by 22:00–23:00 LT.
