About This Outlook
As part of our ongoing commitment to protect mariners' lives and help in times of crisis, Weathernews previously provided daily and weekly port weather highlights for the Strait of Hormuz and the Middle East. With the change of seasons and the onset of the Southwest Monsoon, we are now shifting our focus to port forecast snapshots across the Indian Ocean and South Asia — offering this as a reference for the public and stakeholders monitoring monsoon progression and adverse sea conditions in the region.
Reports are updated four times daily and include 48-hour, 5-day and 7-day outlooks for your use.
Weathernews Maritime Forecaster comment:
The North Indian Ocean will remain under the influence of the southwest monsoon, although the monsoon is entering its final stage as September begins. No significant strengthening of winds is expected this week, with average wind speeds generally ranging from 10 to 20 kt.
Significant wave heights of 2.5–3.0 m are expected off Oman and Pakistan during the first half of the week, before gradually subsiding toward the latter half. Meanwhile, wave heights in the Bay of Bengal are forecast to increase slightly toward the weekend, reaching around 3.0–3.5 m mainly in southern areas, including the waters off Sri Lanka.
