Port Forecast Alert Threshold

■ RAS TANURA, Saudi Arabia

Conditions at Ras Tanura are expected to be elevated during the early morning, with wind and wave parameters briefly reaching alert thresholds before gradually easing through the day and into May 1.

Wind: Sustained winds peak at 23 kts around 09:00 LT, briefly exceeding the 20 kts Yellow Caution threshold, before easing to around 10 kts by evening and remaining light through May 1.

Gust: Gusts reach a maximum of 34 kts at 09:00 LT, momentarily surpassing the 30 kts Yellow Caution threshold, then steadily subside to 10–15 kts for the remainder of the period.

Wave: Significant wave heights peak at 2.5m at 09:00 LT — touching the 2.5m Caution level — before easing to below 1.0m by the end of May 1. Skies are overcast through the morning of April 30, clearing from midday onward with no precipitation and visibility exceeding 10 km throughout.

■ LARAK ISLAND, Iran

Conditions at Larak Island are forecast to build steadily through the day, with wind and wave parameters escalating to exceed alert thresholds during the evening and persisting into May 1.

Wind: Sustained winds start light at around 6 kts in the early morning before climbing steadily to a peak of 24 kts at 18:30 LT on May 1, repeatedly surpassing the 20 kts Yellow Caution threshold from 20:30 LT on April 30 onward.

Gust: Gusts remain below threshold through the morning but begin exceeding the 30 kts Yellow Caution mark from 20:30 LT on April 30, peaking at 36 kts around 18:30 LT on May 1 before easing back toward 28 kts by the end of the period.

Wave: Significant wave heights rise from 0.4m in the early morning to a peak of 2.5m at 18:30 LT on May 1 — reaching the 2.5m Caution level — with elevated conditions persisting through the evening. Skies are mostly clear throughout the entire period with no precipitation and visibility exceeding 10 km.

■ KARACHI, Pakistan

Conditions at Karachi are forecast to remain persistently moderate throughout the period, with wave heights gradually building and approaching alert thresholds by May 1.

Wind: Sustained winds hold steady between 10–14 kts through April 30, briefly nudging the 20 kts Yellow Caution threshold, before easing slightly to 11–15 kts for the remainder of the period — staying clear of any alert level throughout.

Gust: Gusts remain below the 30 kts Yellow Caution threshold for the entire period, peaking at 25 kts around 05:00–06:00 LT on May 1 before easing back to 16–19 kts through the evening.

Wave: Significant wave heights start at 1.2m and build gradually, reaching a sustained peak of around 2.2–2.3m through the latter half of May 1 — approaching but remaining just below the 2.5m Caution level. Visibility is slightly reduced in the early morning hours of April 30 (5,000–8,000m) before improving to exceed 10 km for most of the period. Skies remain clear with no precipitation throughout.
