Port Forecast Alert Threshold
■ TOAMASINA (TAMATAVE), Madagascar
Light winds and gentle gusts prevail throughout but hazardous sea conditions dominate with significant wave heights remaining above the Red Warning threshold across the entire day.
Wind: Winds range between 6–13 kts during the main period, peaking at 13 kts at 03:00 LT and 09:00 LT before falling away to 6 kts by 23:00 LT.
Gust: Gusts fluctuate between 9–19 kts through the day, peaking at 19 kts at 03:00 LT, 09:00 LT, and 15:00 LT before tapering off to 9 kts by 23:00 LT.
Wave: Significant wave height starts at a high of 4.0 m at 03:00–04:00 LT and gradually subsides to 3.6 m by 22:00–23:00 LT, consistently exceeding both the 2.5 m Yellow Caution and 3.5 m Red Warning thresholds throughout the day.
■ HAMBANTOTA, Sri Lanka
Midday strengthening pushes winds, gusts, and waves above Yellow Caution thresholds across early to mid-afternoon, before conditions ease toward the evening.
Wind: Winds build from a low of 10 kts at 05:00 LT to peak at 22 kts at 14:00 LT, exceeding the 20 kts Yellow Caution threshold from 13:00–15:00 LT, before diminishing to 12 kts by 23:00 LT.
Gust: Gusts increase from 15 kts at 05:00 LT to reach a high of 33 kts at 14:00 LT, holding above the 30 kts Yellow Caution threshold between 13:00–15:00 LT, then tapering off to 17 kts by late evening.
Wave: Significant wave height climbs from 2.0 m at 05:00 LT to a peak of 2.9 m at 14:00 LT, remaining above the 2.5 m Yellow Caution threshold from 12:00–17:00 LT before settling to 2.2 m by 23:00 LT.
■ ALANG, India
Mild conditions dominate throughout with winds, gusts, and waves seeing a brief afternoon lift before easing, well below any caution levels.
Wind: Winds drop to a light 5 kts at 09:00 LT before climbing to a peak of 16 kts from 14:00–17:00 LT, then tapering steadily to 8 kts by 22:00–23:00 LT.
Gust: Gusts reach a minimum of 7 kts at 09:00 LT before increasing to a high of 25 kts at 14:00 LT, subsequently dropping below 15 kts by 21:00 LT.
Wave: Significant wave height dips to 0.3 m during the early morning, peaks at 1.4 m between 14:00–15:00 LT, and subsides back to 0.4 m or less by 18:00 LT.
