■ MOCHA, Yemen
Moderate conditions give way to a brief but severe weather event across September 18, with winds and gusts escalating rapidly to breach Red Warning criteria at 18:00 LT. Both parameters diminish steeply following the spike, while waves stay low throughout the period.
Wind: Winds build gradually from 12 kts at 03:00 LT before surging past the 20 kts Yellow Caution threshold at 16:00–17:00 LT and breaching the Red Warning threshold with a peak of 35 kts at 18:00 LT. Speeds remain elevated at 27 kts at 19:00 LT before plummeting to 3 kts by 23:00 LT.
